Our Book
The year 2010 was a special year for Fort Collins Mennonite—it marked our 35th anniversary. We decided to do something special to commemorate the event: hold a musical anniversary event, deliver a special Sunday service … and write a book.
Luckily we had a freelance writer in our midst, Martha Roden. With decades of educational, technical, and web writing under her belt, she rolled up her sleeves and took on writing a history book.
She began interviewing former and current pastors and members of the congregation. As she likes to say, “I’m a busy-body at heart and loved getting the inside scoop on things!”
The result of her labor of love is an engaging, informal history of the church, full of humor, pathos, inspiration, conflict, and love.
This is not your average church history book. No dull, dry, boring facts and dates here. Instead, this book explores what it’s really like to be part of a small Mennonite Fellowship—the real-life drama of a faith-based community: the successes and challenges, humor and pathos, trust and faith, and conflict and love.
If you want to learn more, you’ll have to read the book. Just drop by any Sunday and let Steve know you’d like to buy a book. It costs $20 and can easily be autographed by the author! To purchase, contact our pastor, Steve Ramer at: [email protected]
